WHY 17 CAMPAIGN

Our aim here at Gwynedd SANDS is to support parents who have lost their babies, either before, during their birth or within the first 28 days of their lives.

SANDS have launched their WHY 17 campaign, and it asks the simple question – why 17 babies are dying daily in the UK. SANDS hopes to raise £1.7 million in 17 months to do more research into why this is still happening today, as very often the cause is not known. We demand to have better care both ante natal and post natal, and more equipment and midwives are needed.

In Wales on June 6th we will be starting off from Ysbyty Gwynedd with the ‘Bill of Rights’, our babies names will be written on it and we will be taking it to Glan Clwyd Hospital by any means possible other than by our own cars, that means during the transfer we will have to use alternative means of transport - buses, trains, horses, walking etc. Glan Clwyd SANDS will then take it to Wrexham, Powys, Heads of the Valleys and finally down to Cardiff on June 17th where it will be handed over to the AM’s at the Welsh Assembly. We are demanding to be heard as we speak on behalf of those babies who have no voices to be heard. We are begging for your support, either before or during the day itself as we need to raise money, hold concerts, sponsored walks etc, or by getting businesses to sponsor us on the day. We need to be in the public eye at all times.

If you can help us in any way please let us know by giving us your name and contact details.

Thank you on behalf of Gwynedd SANDS
